With most of the world social distancing and sheltering at home, this Easter and Passover holiday is like no other.
During the very first Passover the Israelites were commanded by God to stay inside their homes with the blood of the lamb on their doorposts so the angel of death would "passover" them.
Passover has been celebrated by Jewish people in some form every year since.
For the first time in history the largest amount of people all over the world will be staying inside their home this Passover. Some governments have requested this action and others have mandated it but most people are willingly staying at home so this virus will "passover" us.
The Israelite families were instructed to stay inside their homes and eat the Passover lamb and unleavened bread. The next day they would leave their homes and begin their journey out of bondage toward a new life.
For Christians, Jesus Christ is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. By the blood of His sacrifice on the Cross we are cleansed from our sins and by walking in the way of His flesh we are freed from the bondage of sin. Death has no power over us, so when we die in this life we "passover" into our new life. We are born again to live eternally with our Father God, our Lord Jesus Christ and all the Saints.
This Passover "eat the word of the Lord Jesus", "drink in and understand His ways" which are God the Father's ways, walk in them and have everlasting life.
John 6:43 Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves. 44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. 45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that has heard, and has learned of the Father, comes unto me. 46 Not that any man has seen the Father, save he which is of God, he has seen the Father. 47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believes on me has everlasting life.
48 I am that bread of life. 49 Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead. 50 This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die. 51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
52 The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?
53 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except you eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. 54 Whoso eats my flesh, and drinks my blood, has eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. 55 For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. 56 He that eats my flesh, and drinks my blood, dwells in me, and I in him. 57 As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eats me, even he shall live by me. 58 This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eats of this bread shall live for ever.
This Easter celebration don't let the COVID-19 virus take away the hope and peace that Jesus gave us through His sacrifice on the cross. Remember our Father God is almighty and loving and He raised up His son Jesus from the dead. Our Father is a God of miracles, working in all things for our good.
May the whole world know that our Father God loves us, our Lord Jesus Christ lives and have great hope and rejoice!
